Bar|Scan Windows Mobile Program

Windows PPC (or Windows Mobile) based devices require different sets of Bar|Scan installation files based on the version of windows running on the device and which device it is. If your mobile device is running Windows Pocket PC 2003 or Windows Mobile version 4.x install the files found in download Bar|Scan Pocket PC program.

If you are running Windows Mobile 5 or 6, install one of the following depending upon which device you have:

Symbol MC50: Install Windows Mobile 5 for MC50
Symbol 90xx: Install wm5-1
All Other: Install wm5

You can obtain the operating system version as follows:

Click on Start->Settings->System then Double-click on the 'About' icon. Within the 'Version' tab you will see the version.

Bar|Scan Pocket PC program ver. 1.0.4.8 (File Size: 2.9 MB)

1. Click on the link above to download the self-executable file to your local system.
2. Using ActiveSync, browse to the \Application folder on the reader.
3. Copy all of the extracted files from the “barscanupgrade\pocketpc” folder on your PC into your reader "My Pocketpc\application" folder. Overwrite all files when prompted.
4. In the reader (not on the PC), navigate to the \Application folder. You can do this by selecting Programs -> File Explorer.
5. Click on the BarCleaner.exe program. It will remove all extraneous files from the previous version. It will give you a set of dialogs telling you what files it skipped or deleted. It will say ‘Done’ when done. It is normal that it might not find all prior files.
6. Cold boot the reader, the Bar|Scan program will self install.
7. Verify that you are using version 1.0.4.8 by clicking on the Bar|Scan ‘About’ button. Navigate to the ‘device ID’ Menu and check the version.

Bar|Scan Windows CE program ver. 1.0.4.8 (File Size: 3.0 MB)

1. Click on the link above to download the self-executable file to your local system.
2. Using ActiveSync, browse to the \Application folder on the reader.
3. Copy all of the extracted files from the “barscanupgrade\windowsCE” folder on your PC into your reader "application" folder. Overwrite all files when prompted.

Motorola Scanner Fix for MC50
This is a fix for the Scanner in the Motorola MC50 computer. If your scanner is being disabled during use, this will correct the problem.There is no need to upgrade the Bar|Scan Application for this fix. These files are provided by Motorola.

1. Click on the link above to download the self-executable file to your local system.
2. Using ActiveSync, browse to the \Application folder on the reader.
3. Copy the 2 extracted files from the “barscanupgrade\mc50fix” folder on your PC into your reader "application" folder.
4. Cold boot the reader, the Fix will self install.
